Message from the President

September 2019 President’s Message

October was a great month for our Chapter!

As we work toward meeting our goals for this year, we continue to reap the benefits of last year’s achievements. Chapter 74 received three free memberships for next year and one free registration for the 2020 Annual Conference in Minneapolis next June. The board has committed to awarding the free memberships by randomly drawing from members in attendance at the October luncheon, November luncheon and the December Holiday event being organized by the Young Professionals Committee. Maggie Schedler was the winner of the drawing at the October luncheon. Many of you will recall that Maggie served on our chapter board for several years and continues her commitment to the industry and IRWA by serving as Secretary/Treasurer for Region 2. The free annual conference registration, along with a $1,000 travel allowance, will be awarded by randomly drawing from the members present at our February membership luncheon.

Our Membership and Young Professionals Committees organized a Membership Drive Event on October 24th. Despite the stormy weather and flooding conditions we had a wonderful turnout. I enjoyed visiting with our young professionals and look forward to their engagement in our industry and Chapter.

The Membership Drive was a great success! We recruited three new members from the Membership Drive and YP Event and added another two new members to our chapter. So, we now have another free membership to offer to our chapter members. I will ask the Board of Directors to set the criteria for awarding that free membership. I welcome any ideas and input from our members on the award of the free membership and other ways to benefit our members. Please feel free to contact me via email at [email protected] or via phone at (512) 914-2201.

Your 2020 Membership Invoice has been sent and while there is plenty of time to renew your IRWA membership, December 31st will be here before you know it. If you are facing the difficult choice of paying for your dues out of your own pocket, or letting your membership lapse altogether, we encourage you to call the IRWA Headquarters to discuss options on how you can maintain your membership for the upcoming year. Even better, attend our Chapter events in the coming months to get the chance to win a free membership!

A few reminders:
We will be voting on adoption of revised Chapter bylaws at the November luncheon. Our Chapter is putting on Course 502 (Non-Residential Relocation Assistance) on November 19 and 20.

Thank you,

Lori Bible, SR/WA
